Getting back to my painting after a busy couple of summer months. Really missed it and I find that having some art going keeps me happy and sane. I currently have two paintings in various stages of completion and hoping to finish them up over the next few weeks. I’m enjoying just moving slow and trying out different brushes and color mixtures.

Best Friends is a real deviation in subject matter for me and I loved the challenge of working a scene that evokes emotion. This is from a photo that my daughter took of her little girl and best friend who hadn’t seen each other for a few weeks. I love the emotion that is evident when the two greet each other for the first time with a gentle touch of the hands and her face reflects the pure joy she feels at seeing him again.

The painting is nearly finished but still have a lot of detail work and highlighting to do. Very happy with the progress so far.
