Recently finished this painting. Much work was required besides adding the whiskers which in itself was a time consuming task but I’m happy with the end product. As with any painting there is a point where one knows it’s time to stop fiddling with it and just make a note of what might be done differently in the future. I totally enjoyed doing this larger format painting and will continue on the wildlife theme.

I’ve always admired artists who do wildlife paintings of bigs cats and realized this would be a great subject to do in large format. I liked this leopard from the free reference photos on Pixaby so was excited to try my hand with her. She is nearly finished and I’m pleased so far with the result. The worst part were the spots which really needed to be placed correctly to accurately represent the direction of the fur. The whiskers may be a challenge but will be the finishing touch.
