This is another project that I completed recently. I was a little apprehensive when I started quilting and had given a lot of thought to it, particularly the face. In the end I decided that simply outlining the features was enough. I also tried various textures to add fluff to Chico’s fur but none of these options worked out as well as just stitching either side of this area.

Since the quilting on both Chico and Melissa required a lot of short runs, I got a lot of practice cleanly hiding the threads at either end. This is also the first time I’ve included a narrow frame and wide border around a quilted piece.
