Finally got back to my projects now that the holidays are over and the sunflowers were first on the list. The quilting turned out to be extensive as I wanted the flower centers to look like seeds and all of the petals, whether appliqued or simply painted, required individual attention. Although it gave me the most trouble, the area I’m particularly happy with is the bent over flower head at the center front. The original scene was from the farmer’s market, so I made the decision to include a couple individuals in the background but seeing the finished piece I think the composition may have been better without them.
