I’ve had this painting in mind for a long while. It is of our cat Winnie who we loved dearly and passed away over 10 yrs ago. She was the best cat ever and we still miss her very much after all these years. I hesitated in trying to portray her as I was afraid it would not do her justice but decided it was time to try. She is a difficult subject as her fur was mostly black. It is a work of patience and love to get her markings right.

I’ve finally finished this painting except for the whiskers which have been giving me fits. Each time I try to redo them it’s an incredible amount of work. I just cannot get the whiskers thin enough with any of my brushes so will put it aside until I get a new brush. It was a challenging project with all of her beautiful markings but it was well worth the effort.
